AFT – Advanced Facilitator Training by NAAEI
The NAAEI Advanced Facilitator Training (AFT) is a train-the-trainer course delivered in-person over three days and is intended for the experienced credential instructor. This intensive practicum provides participants with valuable, high-quality, specialized training on session planning and presentation skills. AFT prepares instructors to deliver the NAAEI’s credentials and learning programs critical to advancing careers and promoting professionalism among apartment industry team members.
Whether the participant is a trainer of two years or 25 years, AFT will provide incredible professional development benefits. The experience will transform instructors into learning facilitators!
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Day 1 - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (plan to arrive the day before)
- Program Introduction
- Structure & Content
- Methods & Techniques
- Two Recorded Presentations & Review (#1: 2 minutes; #2: 2-3 minutes)
- Homework Assignments
- AFT Opening Night Group Dinner at 6:00 pm
Day 2 - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Managing Nervousness & Fear
- Movement, Animation, & Pace
- Critiquing & Evaluating
- Facilitating Activities
- Using Audio Visual to Enhance Learning
- Understanding and Using Questions
- One recorded presentation and review (4-5 minutes)
- Homework Assignments
Day 3 - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (plan to book either an evening flight or a flight the following day)
- Final Presentations (recorded 6-8 minutes)
- Team Facilitation
- Online Facilitation
- Group Debrief and Closure
- Code of Conduct & Course Evaluations
- Departure
Breakfast, lunch, snacks, AFT Opening Night Group Dinner, and course material are included with program purchase. For participants coming from out of town, please be cognizant of booking refundable travel accommodations. The deadline to register for an AFT is 45 days before the start of the program. If the required number of participants to host a training is not met, NAAEI reserves the right to cancel the training.
What To Do Next:
Please review the AFT Faculty Conduct Guidelines prior to registering. Participants must complete all 3 days to receive completion credit - no exceptions will be made. Correspondences are sent out 2 months prior to the start of the workshop date. Registrants who do not receive communication, should reach out to the staff contact. All graduates of AFT join NAAEI's Faculty list. The NAAEI Faculty list is a list of AFT graduates our affiliates use to locate trainers and instructors. Registration for the 2025 year opens Wednesday, October 9. If registering more than one person, please contact Chris Mahoney. Please note, space is extremely limited, and seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must get approval by their local NAA affiliate or an NAA representative to participate in this training.

Participant Cancellation and Refund Policy: Registration is $950. Participants are allowed to cancel their registrations up to 30 days before the start date of the program. Any cancellations or no-shows after that date, will not be refunded. No exceptions.
