Volunteers Needed for Pinellas Point in Time Count
The Homeless Leadership Alliance (HLA) of Pinellas County is looking for volunteers to help take a census of homeless individuals and families in Pinellas County, known as the Point in Time Count (PIT), on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
HLA is is looking for volunteers to work 3 hour shifts beginning at 5AM, 6AM, 9AM, 1PM and 4PM. Volunteers are assigned to small groups with responsibility for specific areas throughout the county and are asked to collect information from homeless individuals and families they come across. All volunteers are provided training before the event. Last year, we had a few BAAA members volunteer in this effort, including Lori Krull with Weller Management, who wanted to share a bit of her experience with other BAAA members:
“I volunteered last year and am doing it again this year. It truly was a humbling experience. The people I talked with were friendly and open to answering the survey questions. I also found they were very helpful to one another; several were making sure the others they traveled or stayed with were taken care of. Community efforts even in the worst of times. Since this volunteer opportunity, I am more aware of the difficulties people in our community are facing and I have made it a point to volunteer or donate time/effort to others in need.”
